Vodafone Expects 100,000 Mobile Signups In Egypt in 2009

Egyptian cellco Vodafone Egypt has revealed that it hopes to sign up approximately 100,000 mobile broadband customers in 2009, taking its customer base for the service to around 160,000, according to Reuters.

The operator's CEO, Hatern Dowidar, has assured customers, however, that the pace of expansion will not impact on the quality of the service.

With the operator counting mobile broadband customers as those that access internet services only through computer via USB dongles, it has also said that 3.5 million of its mobile subscribers accessed the internet via their handsets in August 2009, a million more than did in February.
