Broadmax Enters Malawi Wireless Market

Malawian news source Nation Online reports that Broadmax Holdings, a joint venture between Lebanon-based Angel Wireless and local company Blantyre International Telecommunication Investments, plans to invest around USD25 million in the launch of wireless broadband services in Malawi.

'The company is set to bring in wireless broadband internet last mile services and WiMAX technology,' said Broadmax's CEO, Chris Kanyuka. He added that the company will begin network rollout in Blantyre and the surrounding area in mid-October, before moving to the Central Region in November and the Northern Region in January 2010. The company is expected to expand its network to the rest of the country in June 2010.
